Stephen Hough (c) Christian SteinerRead this 5* review of the evening with Stephen Hough at Wigmore Hall on Saturday 11 June. Stephen performed a solo recital which included Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight’ Sonata, Skryabin’s Piano Sonatas Nos. 4 and 5 and Liszt’s Piano Sonata in B minor. Following the recital, Jessica Duchen interviewed Stephen about his life, work and music. The evening also featured world premières of two works by Hough: Sonata for Piano (broken branches), which was performed by the composer, and the Other Love Songs cycle, performed by The Prince Consort.
