Wigmore Jazz Notes is:
- A guide to improvisation for individual instrumentalists (grade 3 upwards). Suitable for all orchestral/jazz instruments.
- A teaching resource for secondary school class teachers – suitable for mixed-ability KS3 classes (including classroom percussion/voice).
Wigmore Hall has developed the Jazz Notes CD-ROM with musicians Richard and Will Michael who have been working with us at Wigmore Hall for the past eight years. Through their workshops, musicians young and old have had the chance to perform alongside a professional jazz band on the famous Wigmore Hall stage.
This CD-ROM presents many of the activities that they have developed in their live workshops, and provides backing tracks performed by professional jazz musicians so you can try them out yourself at home or in your classroom. It demonstrates the basics of improvisation, and will help you to build skills and techniques commonly used in jazz.
The CD-ROM contains:
- Introduction and activities
- Printable score including transpositions for all orchestral and jazz instruments
- Full recording
- Backing track with looping function for improvisation practice
- Additional teachers’ notes
