Elizabeth McCall

Head of Learning

Elizabeth McCall is Head of Learning at Wigmore Hall, overseeing a diverse programme of events and community projects which aim to give people of all ages and backgrounds access to Wigmore Hall and the music that takes place here. In particular, Elizabeth has been instrumental in expanding Wigmore Hall’s community programme with ensemble Ignite, enabling Wigmore Hall to work in informal settings with harder to reach group, and extending the Music for Life programme.

Elizabeth’s previous role was in community development where, from 2004-2007, she managed a Camden based grass roots organization developing arts projects with a wide range of local groups.

Elizabeth also sings with a number of ensembles, having graduated from the Elder Conservatorium, University of Adelaide, South Australia, with a degree in voice performance in 1998.

Julia Roderick

Senior Producer for Wigmore Hall Learning

Julia Roderick is Senior Producer for Wigmore Hall Learning. As manager of the schools programme, she works closely with teachers, workshop leaders and musicians to devise creative projects for all key stages in mainstream and special needs schools. As chair of the Wigmore Hall Teachers Network, she meets with teachers and school advisers regularly to ensure that projects meet curriculum needs and support teaching practice.

Julia also manages Chamber Tots in the Community: Wigmore Hall’s community based programme of music workshops and inset opportunities for early years and practitioners from nurseries and children’s centres across London. Julia studied for a BA in Music at the University of Leeds and enjoys supporting her talented friends at various gigs across London.

Kate Whitaker

Project Manager

Kate Whitaker is the project manager for two strands of the Learning programme. Her role includes the management of Ignite, an ensemble created for Wigmore Hall Learning to lead on much of our outreach work including partnerships with the Cardinal Hume Centre and local hospitals. She also manages Music for Life, a programme that has pioneered and developed interactive, creative music workshop projects for people living with dementia.

Outside of her role at Wigmore Hall, Kate manages the All Sing! Harrow Road Community Choir. She is also a drummer and percussionist for a number of bands and ensembles, and previously studied for an MMus in Music Technology and Computer Music at the University of Leeds.

Chloe Shrimpton

Assistant

Chloe Shrimpton is Wigmore Hall’s Learning Assistant helping and supporting all members of the Learning team. She is the first person to contact if you have any questions about our activities and events. Chloe previously spent time working in Wigmore Hall’s Development Office, helping to raise funds for the Hall’s Artistic and Learning programmes.

Before joining the Learning team Chloe studied music at the University of Surrey, completing a professional placement year with the LSO. Chloe enjoys playing bassoon in a number of ensembles and is a tutor at the Nation Youth Music Camps.

Neil Valentine

Trainee Animateur

Neil Valentine is the trainee animateur for 2011/12 with Wigmore Hall Learning. This 11 month post includes leading, assisting and performing in workshops for many of the learning teams’ varied projects.
