All Sing! Choir
All Sing! Choir
Wigmore Hall Learning started the All Sing! Harrow Road Community Choir at the end of 2009 and it was originally run as a pilot project with funds from the Councilor’s Ward Budget for Harrow Road.
Following several successful ‘taster’ sessions and some impromptu carol singing, the choir had their first rehearsal in January 2010 and attracted a large section of the local community, from all age groups and backgrounds.
The choir continued to run under the banner of Wigmore Hall throughout 2010, giving several well received concerts at Wigmore Hall and other venues such as St Mary Magdalene’s Church in Harrow Road, and the Royal Geographical Society as part of Exhibition Road Music Day. The choir also developed a committee who help with the running of rehearsals and make sure that the choir as a whole has a say in its direction.
The Choir is now an independent community-run group. If you are interested in joining, or finding out more, please email: allsingchoir@gmail.com
Mission Statement
The All Sing! Harrow Road Community Choir is a group that offers everyone the opportunity to sing.
- We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds and levels of musical experience, and endeavour to sing a wide range of music that both reflects the cultural makeup and diversity of the local community and offers something for everyone to enjoy.
- There are no auditions and no requirements to read music: all that is required is enthusiasm and commitment.
- We aim to create a relaxed, fun, creative and community-focussed environment, where people can meet their neighbours and make new friends, whilst making music to a high standard. We also aim to encourage and inspire people to engage in broader musical activity, both at Wigmore Hall and in the wider community.
- We offer: the opportunity to sing and create music under the direction of professional singers and alongside professional musicians; the opportunity to perform, and see other concerts, at Wigmore Hall – a world-class concert venue; the opportunity to develop new vocal, musical and language skills; and most importantly, the opportunity to enjoy singing and making music with one another.
