Biography
Gudrún Ólafsdóttir studied with Ruth Magnússon in Reykjavík, Iceland, and Laura Sarti at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (MMus and Opera Course).
She has won the Joaquín Rodrigo Prize in Madrid and the Kathleen Ferrier Song Prize.
Her operatic roles include Cenerentola, Rosina, Dorabella, Purcell’s Dido and Mozart’s Sesto. She has performed at Madrid’s Teatro Real and Auditorio Nacional, Bozar’s Henry le Boeuf Hall in Brussels, the St Petersburg Philharmonia’s Glinka Hall and the Royal Festival Hall.
Her CDs include songs by Grieg and Schumann with pianist Víkingur Ólafsson, and Icelandic and Spanish songs with classical guitar.
