Special Projects and Syndicates
Ticket sales and other earned income cover just over 50% of our operating expenses. That means we must raise around £1 million annually to deliver our concert programme and our work in the community for young people, their teachers and families, emerging talent and communities where music provision is limited.
Your donations are vital to fulfil our mission and ensure our financial well-being. Your support is needed more than ever for our special projects and syndicates.
You can become involved in a meaningful way in the following special projects:
- Season Patrons
- Schubert Song Cycle Syndicate
- Piano Fund
- Concert Support
- Learning - Support the Hall's education and outreach work

Schubert Song Cycle Syndicate
Christian Gerhaher baritone and Gerold Huber piano
Wigmore Hall has long had a universally acknowledged position as the world’s leading recital venue for song. In celebration of this and as a highlight of our 2011-12 song series calendar, John Gilhooly invited acclaimed German baritone Christian Gerhaher to perform the three Schubert song cycles with his regular and long term pianist collaborator, Gerold Huber. It was a rewarding and exciting series and the Syndicates support provided invaluable funding to back one of the finest Lieder performers of his generation.
- Die Schöne Müllerin - Tuesday 20 September 2011
- Winterreise - Thursday 22 September 2011
- Schwanengesang - Saturday 24 September 2011
In recognition of donors support and participation in the syndicate, each having given a suggested £5,000 to support this project, the following benefits were on offer:
- Two complimentary tickets for each concert in this series
- Complimentary concert programmes
- Credit in all series programmes and specific listings for each of the supported concerts
- Private bar in the Bechstein Room at each of the concerts
Piano Fund
We are proud that our pianos are widely regarded as some of the finest on any concert platform. Their care is overseen by experts from Steinway & Sons. They work closely with pianists in the run-up to concerts at Wigmore Hall, and keep the instruments in peak condition at all times.
We have established an on-going Piano Fund to help pay for this vital work. Donors who contribute £1,000 or more per year, often in monthly instalments, are offered the chance to play one of their supported pianos, along with other benefits.
Concert Support
If you would like to support a concert, perhaps a forthcoming performance by a favourite artist, or to mark a special personal or family occasion, we will create the perfect package for you.
Concert sponsorship packages start at £5,000 for individuals and each event is uniquely tailored to your requirements.
Wigmore Hall Learning
Inspired by Wigmore Hall’s artistic season, our Learning programmes bring musicians, educators and participants together in projects which enhance and transform any learning experience. Music is an extraordinary communication tool, and is used to best effect by our skilled community and education team at Wigmore Hall.
As public grants are tightened or cut, it is crucial to take a proactive role in preserving music education, and allowing access to this remarkable venue. Your individual gift can make a significant difference and you can become involved in the Hall’s community work in a meaningful way. Find out more at Wigmore Hall's Learning Page
