Special Projects
Ticket sales and other earned income cover just under 50% of our operating expenses, which means we must raise around £800,000 annually to deliver our concert programme and our work in the community for young people, their teachers and families, emerging talent and communities where music provision is limited. Your donations are truly vital to fulfil our mission and ensure our financial well-being. Your support is needed more than ever for our special projects and also, long term, for the Wigmore Hall Development Fund.
You can become involved in a meaningful way in the following special projects:

The Anniversary Patrons
This new scheme will help fund major festivals and celebrations at Wigmore Hall from 2008-2011. Anniversary Patrons pledge £10,000 a year for three years in return for guaranteed ticket availability for exclusively supported concerts (up to four per concert), hospitality around these events, and opportunities to become better acquainted with the repertoire and the artists. The Hall's Director, John Gilhooly will keep them informed as the artistic programme develops.
This season, Year 1 of the scheme, we mark the 200th anniversary of Haydn’s death. The Hall is presenting all of Haydn's string quartets from opus 20 onwards and a number of his other chamber works. The Anniversary Patrons will underpin the formidable costs of this series, which culminates with a four day festival in May 2009.
Year 2: Celebration of Richard Strauss’ Song Repertoire
Year 3: Wigmore Hall 110th birthday celebrations.
Piano Fund
Our pianos are widely regarded as some of the finest on any concert platform and we are very proud of this reputation. Their care is overseen by the team of experts from Steinway & Sons who work closely with pianists in the run-up to their concerts at Wigmore Hall, as well as keeping the instruments in peak condition at all times. We have established an on-going Piano Fund to help pay for this vital work. Founder members (who contribute £1,000 or more per year, often in monthly installments) are offered the chance to play one of their supported pianos, along with other benefits.Concert Support
If you would like to support a concert, perhaps a forthcoming performance by a favourite artist, or to mark a special personal or family occasion, we would be delighted to create the perfect package for you. Concert sponsorship packages start at £5,000 for individuals and each event is uniquely tailored to your requirements.Community and Education
Inspired by Wigmore Hall’s artistic season, our community and education programmes bring people together – musicians, educators and participants, in projects which enhance and transform any learning experience. Music is an extraordinary communication tool, and is used to best effect by our skilled community and education team at Wigmore Hall. As public grants are tightened or cut, it is crucial to take a more proactive role in preserving music education, and allowing access to this remarkable venue. Your individual gift can make a significant difference and you can become involved in the Hall’s community work in a meaningful way.
