About this concert

This concert opens with Nikolai Myaskovsky’s full-blooded Quartet No. 13, packed with colourful part writing and rich melodic lines. Stravinsky’s Concertino is unusual for incorporating a solo line for the first violin throughout, supported by the other three instruments, whereas Borodin’s opulently lyrical Quartet No. 1 gives equal prominence to each instrument.
