About this concert
‘Il Furibondo’ – the wild man – was Tartini’s name for the Italian violinist and composer Francesco Geminiani who, alongside Handel, dominated London’s musical life in the early 18th century.
An important teacher, one of his most renowned pupils was the soprano Cecilia Young who premièred several Handel opera roles and later married Thomas Arne.
