About this concert
Following his three sell-out Schubert recitals at Wigmore Hall in 2008 John Gilhooly invited Mark Padmore for a year-long residency and to become an ambassador for our education and outreach activities.
With his impeccable pedigree as a King’s College choral scholar in the 1980s, Mark is arguably Britain’s most versatile tenor, with a repertoire ranging from Dowland lute songs via Purcell, Handel, Bach and the high Baroque, through the classicism of Mozart and Haydn to Schubert Lieder, and on to Elgar, Britten and living composers such as Huw Watkins and Thomas Adès. Many of these facets will be on display during his Wigmore residency.
