About this concert
Since 1991 Norwegian pianist Leif Ove Andsnes has been Co-Artistic Director, with violist Lars Anders Tomter, of the internationally renowned chamber music festival based in the small fishing town of Risør on the southeastern coast of Norway.
Each year some of the world’s leading musicians converge there for an intensive period of rehearsals and performances, and this year the special atmosphere of these performances comes to Wigmore Hall in a series of four concerts also featuring the festival’s resident string orchestra.
Among the soloists are names familiar to Wigmore Hall audiences, including Martin Fröst, Henning Kraggerud and Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman, a prizewinner of the Wigmore Hall Song Competition in 2001.
"Discovering the Risør Festival of Chamber Music … is like stumbling upon a fabulous little out-of-the-way restaurant that you are almost reluctant to tell people about … The Festival has redefined what a chamber music festival can be" New York Times
