About this concert
Toru Takemitsu’s 1950s piano cycle Uninterrupted Rest shows how the influences of Debussy, Skryabin and Messiaen coalesced to form the basis of the Japanese composer’s distinctive style.
To follow it, Stephen Kovacevich performs the majestic penultimate piano sonata of Schubert, a composer in whose music he has won consistent acclaim.
