About this event
The final Wigmore Study Group of the season explores the breadth of vocal music by English composer William Byrd – not only for its religious and political context but also its enduring significance over nearly four centuries. Participants will discover Byrd’s music from the inside with composer-host Julian Philips, who will be joined by a number of distinguished musicologists and musicians, including Andrew Carwood, the director of The Cardinall’s Musick.
This event is linked to the evening concert with The Cardinall’s Musick on 17 May and is part of the William Byrd Sacred Music Series.
