About this concert
Thomas Zehetmair has established himself as one of the most versatile and prodigiously gifted musicians of his generation.
A star solo violinist, he has revitalised the Northern Sinfonia at The Sage Gateshead, and his Zehetmair Quartet has a unique attitude to the performance of a carefully selected repertoire, playing everything from memory.
Their Schumann recording was Gramophone Disc of the Year in 2003 and this BBC Lunchtime Concert also introduces a rarely heard quartet by Anton Bruckner.
