L'Invitation au Voyage

Nash Ensemble

Duparc’s song L’Invitation au Voyage offers a journey to a land of ‘order and beauty, luxury, calm and delight’.

In the Nash Ensemble’s 2009/10 series, that journey takes in both France and Spain. The musical traditions of the two countries are interlinked: French composers such as Chabrier, Debussy and Ravel wrote some of the finest ‘Spanish’ music, while the Spaniards Granados, Falla and Turina all spent formative years in Paris.

Works by these major figures are augmented by other masterpieces ranging from Berlioz by way of Saint-Saëns and Fauré to Poulenc. Outstanding singers join the award-winning Nash Ensemble in a season-long festival – or fête, or fiesta!
