Ton Koopman Residency

Ton Koopman is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s leading authorities on period instrument performance and Wigmore Hall is delighted to welcome him for a three concert mini-residency throughout the 2009/10 season.
In a career spanning over 45 years he has explored the works of composers ranging from Purcell and Bach to Mozart and Schubert – as a harpsichordist, organist and conductor – striking a vital balance between his work as a scholar and practitioner.
For the first of his concerts he is joined by the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, an ensemble formed of internationally renowned baroque specialists founded by Ton Koopman 30 years ago this season. Together they will make their contribution to the 2009 Haydn Bicentenary Celebrations.
In the spring members of the orchestra will return to the Hall once more to join Koopman for his second concert featuring one of the finest works in the Baroque chamber music repertoire, Bach The Musical Offering.
Finally Ton Koopman will return to the Hall in June with his regular recital partner Tini Mathot for a programme including works by Bach, Mozart, Handel, Buxtehude and Couperin.
