‘Her silky-smooth bowing and flawless top notes sang out divinely,’ wrote The Strad following Francesca Dego’s Wigmore Hall recital in December 2024. The Italian American violinist returns with a fascinating programme woven from an eclectic choice of pieces from Italy and France, including the contrasting miniatures of Berio’s Due Pezzi (1951), written for and dedicated to Lorin Maazel, and Respighi’s B minor Sonata, the Passacaglia finale of which comprises 20 variations above an imposing ground bass.
