Overview
Unknowing, among the most natural of all human conditions, is all too often swept aside by claims of absolute knowledge, whether in religion, politics or science. James Newby and Apartment House explore the many shades of agnosticism in a programme that travels from the awe-struck beauty of sacred works from 12th-century Paris and Ina Boyle’s poignant setting of Edith Sitwell’s Still falls the rain to a haunting monody by Meredith Monk and the surrealist brilliance of Poulenc’s Le bal masqué.
