Overview
The unlikely yet profound affinity between Erik Satie and John Cage forms the thread running through this recital. Bertrand Chamayou explores a sequence of piano works whose wit, stillness and radical simplicity transformed modern music. After the interval, Barbara Hannigan joins him for Satie’s Socrate, the composer’s austere and transcendent setting of texts from Plato.
