A floodtide of powerful emotions sweeps through the works in this evening’s programme. The Belcea Quartet continues its Beethoven Cycle at Wigmore Hall with the compelling first-half pairing of the dramatic Op. 18 No. 4 and the ‘Harp’ Quartet, the latter composed soon after Napoleon’s troops occupied Vienna in 1809. The evening opens with the symphonic scope and intense emotions of the first ‘Razumovsky’ Quartet.
