Overview
‘With Jupiter, I wanted to bring together a collective of exceptional musicians from the new generation,’ writes Thomas Dunford of the ensemble he founded in 2018. The lutenist’s vision of music made with brilliant talents and without fear continues to hold audiences spellbound with its rich mix of period-instrument sounds and pulse-quickening brio. The group’s latest Wigmore programme frames Dunford’s lute arrangement of JS Bach’s First Cello Suite, described by Gramophone as ‘quite beautiful and refreshing’, with two of the composer’s dazzling harpsichord concertos.
