This concert will be approximately 2 hours in duration, including an interval
Elisabeth Leonskaja and Quatuor Danel have forged a partnership hallmarked by near-telepathic understanding and mutual empathy. For their first ever collaborative Wigmore Hall programme, they offer two magnificent landmarks of the piano quintet repertoire. Dvořák’s Op. 81, which grew from an abortive attempt to revise a much earlier work, contains some of the composer’s finest folk-inspired tunes and provides the ideal complement to the ‘Trout’ Quintet, Schubert’s radiant response to one of his happiest summers.
