Overview

Poulenc’s Improvisations, written between 1932and 1959, were inspired by everything from themusic of Prokofiev to the haunting songs of EdithPiaf. Simon Trpc? eski frames his choice of thecomposer’s playful pieces with the vibrant dancesof Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales andPoulenc’s own Toccata, which echoes the yearningmelody from his Improvisation No. 13.
