    Overview

Clio Gould directs senior string players from the Royal Academy of Music in a programme that opens with one of Hugo Wolf’s few works written outside of the Lieder genre, the Italian Serenade. Leonid Desyatnikov’s arrangement of Piazzolla’s Four Seasons of Buenos Aires splits each season into three movements in the style of Vivaldi and also includes several quotations from the Italian composer’s original work. The concert concludes with Tchaikovsky’s Souvenir de Florence, the principal theme of which was sketched in the Tuscan city.
