The always welcome Belcea players join forces with two other exceptional instrumentalists for Brahms’s two works in string sextet form, the first composed in 1860; the second – a work that includes a brief reference to Agathe von Siebold, to whom the composer had been engaged a few years previously – in 1864-5.
