Overview

Among the lasting fruits of the lockdown period is a series of works commissioned by the Hall which are now ready for performance, and which will be threaded throughout the next four seasons. Here the Voices for Today series features the work of an Italian-born composer who, in the words of The Guardian, ‘knows what he wants and how to achieve it’. The inspiration behind Antonioni's work came from a Sicilian folksong that was sung by a worker in the sulphur mines.
