Overview

The Elias String Quartet commences its season-long Beethoven cycle at Wigmore Hall with two of the composer’s Op. 18 quartets, described by one of his contemporaries as ‘the best of their kind'. The groups moves from Op. 18 No. 3, his first ever string quartet, to one of the last, his monumental Op. 132, with its sublime ‘Hymn of Thanksgiving to God of an Invalid on his Convalescence’.
