Schubert at his most charming stands alongside Grieg’s mighty Violin Sonata in C minor in Joshua Bell’s captivating programme. The great American violinist and Alasdair Beatson turn after the interval to Prokofiev’s Violin Sonata No. 2, a virtuosic, wonderfully lyrical wartime work transformed from its original version for flute and piano.
