Overview

‘My love for Schubert is a very serious one,’ confessed Brahms in 1863, ‘probably because it is not just a fleeting fancy’. Piotr Anderszewski’s sophisticated pianism is ideally matched to the late masterworks of both men. He explores Brahms’s debt to the great Viennese composer, heard in the lyricism that connects the slow movement of Schubert’s C minor Piano Sonata to the Intermezzi of Opp. 117 & 118.
