Programme

Overview

Sacred words and their meaning mattered to Heinrich Schütz, who turned his inventive flair to their apt expression in music. As chapel master at the Dresden court from 1615 to 1672, he enriched the repertoire with works of compelling eloquence, few finer than his Story of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Richard Boothby directs an ace vocal and instrumental ensemble in this great landmark of Easter music.
