Overview

Praised by The Scotsman for her ‘golden precision and effortless virtuosity’, Fenella Humphreys’s Wigmore Hall Residency concludes with a joyful celebration of the role of infinite possibilities in composition, a condition embedded in the series of Études written specially for her Tom Coult, whose music was described by the Guardian as being ‘methodically crafted yet bewitchingly original’. The violinist’s choice of repertoire captures the originality of solo works by Nicola Matteis, who introduced Purcell’s London to the Italian style of fiddle playing.
