Overview

Wigmore Hall’s Kanneh-Mason Family Residency closes with an homage not only to the musical siblings but also to three works that span the brightest heavens of invention. The Kanneh-Masons open with the Sonata in C that Mozart wrote to play with a star pupil and continue with the exquisite Sonata for violin and cello, dedicated by Ravel to the memory of Debussy. They close with Shostakovich’s Second Piano Trio, a harrowing expression of grief in the wake of Nazi atrocities.
