In 2013 Shaw's Partita for 8 Voices won her a Pulitzer Prize as the youngest recipient of the award, while in 2019 The Guardian listed it amongst the greatest works of art music written in the new millennium. In 2022 her song cycle Narrow Sea won her a Grammy Award for Best Classical Composition.
