Joseph Haydn


There have been more festivals at Wigmore Hall saluting Haydn’s brilliance as a writer of chamber music than have been held in honour of any other composer, with a Haydn Society celebration in 1980 (including performances on the rarely-heard baryton), the Lindsay String Quartet’s series ‘Genius of Haydn’ of 1987 and Sir András Schiff’s 2022 Haydn Festival among them.
