        Overview

Monteverdi’s Fifth Book of Madrigals, complete with the exquisite provoked conservative critics and inspired a new wave of composers to explore the expression of human emotions in their music. His radical departure from old ways was emulated in the 1950s by Astor Piazzolla, inventor of the revolutionary ‘nuevo tango’, and by María Grever, Mexico’s first successful female composer.

The Wigmore Hall Restaurant will serve dinner after the concert. Please contact the Box Office on 020 7935 2141 to make your table reservations.
