    Programme

    Overview

Short opera/ballet based on the myth of Orpheus with music from Monteverdi, Philip Glass, Gluck and Wijnand van Klaveren

Wijnand van Klaveren’s Orpheus Revisited began life as a work for O/Modernt, Hugo Ticciati’s pioneering festival at Ulriksdal’s Palace Theatre Confidencen in Sweden.

The work, originally based on Gluck’s music, has evolved to embrace Monteverdi’s take on the myth of Orpheus and Euridice, and to follow strands of Orphée, the chamber orchestra by Philip Glass inspired by Jean Cocteau’s eponymous film.

Supported by Arts Council England and Wigmore Hall, with associate sponsors Florian Leonhard Fine Violins
