Overview
For his first concert in his Beethoven series, the pianist selects the first of the composer’s canonical sonatas (1795); the so-called ‘Hunt’ (1802), whose use of hunting motifs in the finale earned it its nickname; and the mighty ‘Hammerklavier’ (1818), styled for Beethoven’s preferred German name for his instrument.
