Overview
Rihab Azar is a London-based, Syrian/British oud player. Performing internationally since 2008; in 2014 she became the first woman oudist to perform accompanied by the Syrian National Orchestra for Arabic Music, and in 2016 Arts Council England recognised her as a musician of 'Exceptional Promise'. Join Rihab Azar for an informal, intimate performance in the Wigmore Hall Learning Room - which will be specially dressed for the occasion.
Rihab will perform compositions by oud players/composers from the Middle East and North Africa in addition to her own compositions. Rihab’s style and creative voice reflects her deep musical roots in Middle-Eastern music, her classical training at the conservatoire of Damascus, as well as the numerous cross-genre collaborations she’s been involved in throughout her career in the UK.
