Overview
Quatuor Danel’s survey of the complete string quartets of Dmitri Shostakovich and Mieczysław Weinberg, launched at Wigmore Hall in 2019, draws to a close this evening. The programme contrasts Weinberg’s playful final quartet with the profound melancholy of his good friend’s Op. 144.
