Overview

ARC Ensemble's Music in Exile series closes with a remarkable programme that speaks to the vitality, invention and creative richness of music by a generation of Jewish composers whose worlds were turned upside down by Nazi persecution and who found refuge as exiles in the United States and Britain or, in the case of Simon Laks, survived internment at Auschwitz-Birkenau as head of the deadly concentration camp’s orchestra.
