Overview

William Lawes, killed in 1645 while serving the royalist cause during the Siege of Chester, was admired by his peers for his harmonic daring and the brilliance of his melodic invention. Ensemble Près de votre oreille, known for the expressive intimacy of its performances, makes its Wigmore Hall debut with an unmissable programme of the cavalier composer’s rarely heard Psalm settings for three voices and basso continuo.
