Overview

A journey around the African continent through song as imagined by composer Fred Onovwerosuoke in his 12 African Songs for voice and piano, the first volume of songs by an African composer collating selections from a pan-African outlook. Each song accentuates a unique cultural perspective and provides new insights into the concept of melody, harmony, rhythm and overall musical organisation, while embracing a wide spectrum of Africa’s cultural practices – spirituality, religion, community, work, play and song.
