    Overview

Vox Luminis and Lionel Meunier mark the midpoint of Holy Week with works that project the human drama of Christ’s Passion. Johann Sebastiani’s St Matthew Passion, published in 1672, offers an absorbing mix of accompanied recitatives, sumptuous chorales and instrumental interludes, which are presented here together with the last and finest work by Agostino Steffani, musician, priest and diplomat.
