Programme

Overview

Simone McIntosh, Song Prize finalist in the 2023 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition, and Nathaniel LaNasa, a committed champion of contemporary music, take a voyage into the mystical world of Olivier Messiaen’s cycle of songs of love and death, first performed 80 years ago. The Swiss-Canadian singer’s voice, praised by Van magazine for its ‘refulgent tone’ and ‘big gleaming high mezzo with its brilliant top’, is matched by her charismatic stage presence.
