    Overview

    The Heath Quartet trains the spotlight on the first ofHaydn’s ‘Russian’ Quartets, a work that combinespathos and popular melodies, grace and darkhumour.

    The Heaths also open their season-longsurvey of Jörg Widmann’s five string quartets withthe German composer’s first foray into the genre, anentrancing twelve-minute adventure in textural andtonal possibilities.
