Overview
The programme opens with one of Haydn’s ‘Russian’ quartets – whose opening gesture once earned it the nickname ‘How do you do?’ – and continues with Schumann’s final quartet of his set of three, all of which were composed during a prolific year in the composer’s career, 1842. The quartet ends the programme with violinist Donald’s own arrangements of music from his homeland.
