This concert will be approximately 90 minutes in duration, without an interval
The Seven Last Words, originally created for Cádiz Cathedral’s Good Friday service in 1786, occupies the Chiaroscuro Quartet’s musical meditation for the week before Easter. Haydn’s work evokes the shattering drama and humbling magnitude of Christ’s crucifixion.
This performance will be interspersed with readings from Sacred Conversations by Sir Andrew Motion, a series of responses to Haydn’s Seven Last Words which were commissioned by the Endellion String Quartet.
This concert is part of the CAVATINA Chamber Music Trust ticket scheme, offering free tickets to those aged 8-25
