Overview

Sabine Devieilhe’s selection of delights includes irresistible songs by four French women whose artistry overcame the prejudices of a male-dominated music profession, against all odds in the case of Édith Piaf, the ‘little sparrow’ abandoned at birth by her mother. Her programme also comprises exquisite German songs, none more so than Strauss’s divine ‘Kornblumen’.
