Overview

Chopin’s music formed part of Ravel’s training as a pianist at the Paris Conservatoire and served him well as a source of inspiration for his later compositions. Tim Horton highlights the points of correspondence and contrasts between their art by pairing the exquisitely crafted miniatures of Ravel’s Valses nobles et sentimentales with the lyrical melodies and lucid textures of Chopin’s sublime Op. 48 Nocturnes.
