Overview

Walter Kaufmann’s music has emerged from obscurity thanks not least to the ARC Ensemble’s recordings for its Music in Exile series on the Chandos label. The composer, friend of Albert Einstein and assistant to Bruno Walter, is represented here by three fine works, including his String Quartet No. 1, influenced by Indian classical music, and the fiery single-movement Septet.
